Through the Zite magazine app on my iPad, I came across Teaching Appz, a new website with recommendations of mobile apps for teachers and schools. This website comes from the same website stable as Teaching News and Teaching Ideas. The site gives a short review of each app as well as how it can be used in the classroom. It gives recommendations on what age group the app is suitable for and includes screenshots of the app. It also tells what mobile platform the app is available for.
Teachers have the option of searching for apps by curricular area, by age range or by device. There is also a section of apps called “Just for Teachers” which include productivity or resources apps. The homepage has a nice “Featured Apps” section, thumbnails of apps categories and a section on latest apps added to the site.
Teaching Appz is a site well worth following via RSS to keep up-to-date with the latest apps on the market suitable for mobile devices in the classroom.
