To coincide with the publication on this website of the Study Guide for “The Butterfly Heart” by Paula Leyden, which has been nominated for the CBI Children’s Book of the Year 2012, the author and her publisher, Walker Books, have given us five signed copies of the book to give away on the site. The Butterfly Heart is a tale set in Zambia and is told through the voices of a young girl and an old man who has a way with snakes. The story contains folk tales and legends from Zambia, humour and sadness, old meeting new. It touches on, among other things, the issue of child marriage. More information on the book and the author is on The Butterfly Heart website.
To enter the competition to win a copy of the signed book for yourself or your class/school library, simply fill in the form below with your details, answer the questions and submit the form before 5pm on Thursday May 3rd. Winners will be announced on Twitter after this time. One entry per teacher please! The questions are all related to the book and the author. They can be easily answered by a Google search, or by visiting the CBI and The Butterfly Heart websites linked above and hopefully they aren’t too difficult. Go n-éirí an t-ádh libh.

Some wrong answers coming in for the competition. The answer to Q4 might be a mathematician who smokes!
