Last week saw the launch of Seas Suas, a new and exciting website of special interest to primary teachers. Put together by Simon Lewis of Anseo and Nigel Lane of The Inside Lane, the website brings the writings of pupils from their own school blogs to a larger audience. Based on the successful format of the Irish Teacher Blogs website, the site aims to aggregate the wide and varied blogging being done in primary schools up and down the country as part of pupils’ curricular and extra-curricular activities .
After a school registers its blog with Seas Suas, whenever that school updates its blog a link to the blog post appears on Seas Suas. Furthermore, Seas Suas categorises the blog post according to its content and places the link to the post into a certain category or categories. At present categories include Animals, Art, Music, Science, Sport, Tours amongst others.
The website is a great addition to the field of educational websites and is a one-stop-shop for anyone who wants to find out what is happening in Irish Primary Classrooms throughout the country. The website is in its infancy at the moment, but as more and more schools register with the site, it’s going to develop into a great resource for teachers, pupils and parents.
