The Get Ireland Active website was initially developed to promote the National Physical Activity Guidelines. The site has been further developed to become a one-stop shop for physical activity information. The aim of the website is to encourage people to become more physically active by creating awareness of the opportunities for physical activity at local, regional and national levels.
The website has a great resource for teachers to assist in the planning of PE lessons or for teaching pupils games to play during breaktimes on the school yard. The booklet has instructions on how to play Ball Games (like Dodge Ball), Rhyming Games (like All In Together Guys and Oranges and Lemons), Running Games (like Stuck in the Mud and Duck Duck Goose) and Skipping Games (like Down in the Valley and Jelly on a Plate).
