You’ll be hearing a lot about the poet W.B. Yeats this year as lots of celebrations are planned to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth. More information on the events to mark the year can be found on the Yeats 2015 website.
To help mark the year in primary schools, the award-winning artist and illustrator Annie West, who has carved out a niche through her pictorial representations of Yeats and his world, has made available to Seomra Ranga two Yeats-based colouring sheets for pupils. One sheet is suitable for younger pupils and depicts Yeats writing. The other sheet is more complex and is suitable for more senior pupils – it depicts a crowded scene converging on the Lake Isle of Innisfree.
These pages would be perfect if a school wished to organise their own Yeats Colouring Competition within the school to mark Yeats 2015.
Seomra Ranga wishes to express our thanks to Annie West for generously sharing some of her Yeats-themed work with teachers and pupils for free. You can see more of her work on her website at Annie West.Com Annie’s latest book “Yeats in Love” was recently published and deals with Yeats’ pursuit of Maud Gonne.
