Teachers are always seeking advice and recommendations for novels suitable for particular class standards. There are many lists out there, but few are lists recommended by practising classroom teachers. So, in an attempt to compile a list of novels suitable for use in Irish classrooms, at the end of August I asked teachers to complete a short form through the website, based on their classroom experience.
Due to lots of commitments, it’s taken some time to start putting the lists together. However, this is now the first of those lists, focusing on books for infants. It contains a list of thirty one books, mostly picture books, which have been recommended by practising Irish classroom teachers and others.
Hopefully, the list will act as a starting point for teachers who are looking for some new reading material for their infant classroom. Many of these books will also have lots of associated resources available elsewhere online.
