Award-winning animation studio Cartoon Saloon has teamed up with Temple Street Children’s University Hospital to create a short video to help prepare children who are going into hospital for an operation.
Called “Ben and Tara’s Visit to the Hospital”, the video is narrated by “Moone Boy” star Chris O’ Dowd. There are two versions of the same video, one featuring a girl and the other featuring a boy. It gives a simple, step-by-step explanation of what happens when a child goes into hospital for an operation. It takes the child on a journey through the hospital and explains what will happen in the hospital.
This video would be a great resource for teachers doing a Hospital Aistear theme as it would generate so much oral language and discussion on the topic of going into hospital for an operation. Both versions of the video are below.
