The Boldness of Betty is a new novel by Anna Carey. I really enjoyed this book because it took me through a time when there was a lot of unfairness especially in Dublin. Many, many families went through a very tough time and lived in poverty. Wages were very poor and the working person had no rights.
I really loved this story reading about the adventures Betty had. It is a marvellous and thrilling story. I learned quite a lot about the 1913 Lockout and this story made me think about how kind some of the fine ladies and gentlemen were and how they saw the unfairness of the worker’s life. They were not all against the unions.
This is a brilliant book and I would rate it five out of five. It deserves 5 stars.
