This video demonstrates a simple Word Matching activity to help pupils to consolidate a selection of sight words that they are learning. You simply write the chosen words onto pairs of cardboard feet, mix them up and get the pupil to match the pairs of feet.
This was a typical activity that we used when teaching in an ASD class and it was a really good follow-up activity for sight words that had been learned. It is a really good activity for pupils who are good at matching. This activity also combines a good fine motor activity as some pupils may find it tricky to lift the individual feet from the table.
This activity would be really suitable to do in an SET or ASD setting. The feet were purchased in Mr Price – they come in packs of sixteen, so you get eight pairs of words per pack.
