The Breaking News Generator is one of the many applications on the ClassTools.net website. It is a really easy application to use and can be used to enhance and illustrate so many different areas of the curriculum. It could be used as a response to a class novel, to illustrate a historical event or to illustrate a current news item.
The idea is that pupils can create a simulated screen grab of a typical news website to illustrate an area of the curriculum. My 6th class pupils used this application this week to create images pertaining to an incident during World War II. They all reported that they found it really easy to use and created images about Pearl Harbour, D-Day, Invasion of Poland, Hitler’s Suicide and planes crashing in Ireland.
