“Whether the weather be hot,
or whether the weather be not,
we’ll weather the weather, whatever the weather
whether we like it or not!
Growing up in Ireland we have learned that this old Irish saying is true. I am sitting down on a wet Summer’s evening to write a review of the picture book ‘Eva and the Perfect Rain – A Rainy Irish Tale’. It was written and illustrated by the talented Tatyana Feeney. Her words and use of beautiful watercolour illustrations work in harmony to paint pictures throughout.
The book depicts the story of a little girl who does not let the rain stop her. Every path that we take in life has puddles. When life throws her a rainy day, she goes out and splashes in these puddles. She loves to play and explore with her umbrella. In the rain she discovers more about herself and the world around her.
Whatever the weather throws at her she adapts. Rain makes everything grow. There are many positive and inspiring messages within the words and the illustrations. I enjoyed reading this book. The little girl shows us that when it rains, we should look for rainbows.
