This Wednesday is February 1st, the traditional start of the season of Spring. It’s also Lá Fhéile Bríde (St. Brigid’s Day). I thought that this would be a good time for a Twitter Project. If you and your class are on Twitter, just Tweet any time during this week about any signs of spring that you see in your classroom, school area or locality. To keep all of the Tweets together use the following Twitter hashtag: #signsofspring2012 Possible things you could Tweet about:
-
Buds growing on the trees in the school yard
-
Spring flowers emerging
-
Birds nesting in the trees around the school
-
New lambs in a field near the school
-
Pupils making St. Brigid’s Crosses
-
You could tweet a photo of any of the signs of spring that you notice
Let other schools/classes that you are in contact with through Twitter know about the project and invite them to join in. If you are in contact with a country abroad, get them to join in too to give the project an international dimension. To make the project collaborative, don’t forget to reply to/comment on the Tweet of another school. So let’s build up a picture through Twitter of what the signs of Spring 2012 are during this week. Above all, don’t forget to use the project hastag on every Tweet: #signsofspring2012
Great idea! Will be tweeting with @MrLanesClass next week!
This will also fit in with any school doing Discover Primary Science Award for maths and science featured on an earlier blog post. Part of the award this year is participation in “The Greenwave Project” which also looks for the signs of Spring.
@CraggaghNS will be tweeting #signsofspring2012
I’m sure @mrquinnsclass will Tweet about this during the week. I’ll try to get @misshynesclass to do it also
