The Computer in Education Society of Ireland (CESI) started a conference format some years ago based on “Teachmeets” which were happening in other countries. The format is great because it is less intimidating, less formal and very relaxed. They consist of Mini-Presentations (5-7mins) and Nano Presentations (2 mins). I’ve been to a few at this stage and also presented at a few. Most people will say that they come away from a CESI Meet with lots of new ideas for integrating technology into the classroom. They are also a great way of getting to know teachers from all levels and making new contacts. It is very much teacher-led and presenters are classroom practitioners who are sharing their knowledge and experience.
CESI have organised two upcoming CESI Meets in regional venues which may suit teachers more than having to travel to a national venue. These are the details of these events:
CESI Meet South West
Venue: Tara building, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick
Date: Friday Oct 19th 6.30 to 9 ish
Organised by Helen Bullock.
Parking in the college from Courtbrack Ave. entrance.

This is a great opportunity for students teachers from Mary I College to meet local schools and new colleagues. Light refreshments will be served and there’s a possible trip to the local across the road if the discussions run over time!
