The 10th ICT in Education Conference will take place in LIT (Limerick Institute of Technology) Tipperary on Saturday May 10th. The theme of this year’s conference is “Global Voices” and it aims to explore how the clever use of technology in education brings a global perspective to learning. The Conference Webpage puts it well when it explains that:
“Global Voices in Education showcases case studies, workshops and keynote addresses to amplify effective methods teachers, lecturers and practitioners have used to enhance the resonance and reach of their own best practice and to energise student voices in creative classrooms and online activities”.
Keynote speakers Helen Keegan, Evelyn O’Connor and Julie Cullen will share their perspective on “Global Voices” in education. Ciarán Cannon, Minister of State for Training and Skills in Ireland will deliver the opening address. A wide and varied Programme is planned for the day-long conference which includes simultaneous presentations and workshops on a variety of workshops throughout Saturday which will explore, amongst other themes, Social Media, Digital Storytelling, ePortfolios, Blogging as an aid to Literacy, and Game/App development. Registration for the conference is now open and places can be booked online.
The conference organisers will also be collaborating with CESI (Computers in Education Society of Ireland) which will hold a TeachMeet on Friday evening, May 9th, from 7 – 9pm on the Thurles campus. If you’ve never been to a CESI TeachMeet before, it’s a whirlwind event of 2 minute, 7 minute and 15 minute presentations on technology-related ideas for the classroom.
