Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D., today launched the re-vamped Scoilnet website in the Dublin West Education Centre. Originally launched in 1998, Scoilnet is the Department of Education and Skills (DES) official education portal.
Managed by PDST Technology in Education, Scoilnet contains 10,000+ online resources including website links, quizzes, lesson plans, notes, video/audio, games and other multimedia.
Apart from the new look and feel of the new website, one of the main changes is that teachers with Scoilnet accounts will be able to upload and share their own resources. The new site also has a new layout and navigation which, on first glance, seems to be a lot clearer and user-friendly. It maintains all the best resources from the old site, including things like the excellent Themepages, but presents them in a more organised fashion. Visitors also have the ability to “like” and share resources on most social media platforms.
With a new tagline of “Search or Share. Scoilnet helps you prepare!” the Scoilnet website should continue to be the first port of call for both primary and post-primary teachers when engaging in classroom planning.
