“George Speaks”, a novel by Dick King Smith (author of “The Sheep Pig” and “The Hodgeheg”), is about a baby called George, sister to Laura and son to Mum and Dad. However, George is no ordinary small baby. He does all the usual baby things like sleep a lot, drink milk, wear nappies – however George, very early in life, discovers he can speak. He first divulges the secret to his sister Laura, and later to his parents.
