Rugby Runner is the fifth book in this series and I have read them all. I really like Gerard Siggins’ books, he is a brilliant writer, just as good as JK Rowling.
The main character in this book is called Eoin, he’s the same boy from the earlier books and now he is on the JCT even though he only started rugby three years ago. Eoin is a great character, he seems like a really nice guy and he never gets cocky although he is brilliant at rugby. He can also see ghosts, which is pretty cool.
Eoin goes to Castlerock College, which is a boarding school in Leinster, even though Eoin is actually from Munster. So he gets to play for Leinster in the interprovincials and in this book there is a World Cup for Under 16s, the first ever one, and it’s going to be held in Ireland. I don’t want to say too much, but Eoin is hoping to get on the Irish team and he has a lot of competition from the Ulster and Connacht out halves.
The ghosts that Eoin sees are always interesting characters from history, and this time he meets the actual inventor of rugby himself. There is a reason he meets this ghost and it gives a good bit of excitement to the book. My favourite ghost that Eoin meets is Brian Hanrahan and he is in this book too.
I would really recommend this book, it was a great read and I really enjoyed it, I am looking forward to Ger Siggins next book now!
