Picture Books can often be associated with younger pupils in the primary school but there are also many suitable picture books which can be used with senior pupils. This video shows examples of some of the picture books that I use with my senior class pupils.
A couple of years ago, as part of our work on the Primary Language Curriculum, we introduced picture books to all classes in my school. Using picture books in this manner gives pupils great opportunities for talk and discussion on topics introduced in the book. Such discussions can be integrated with other areas of the curriculum, perhaps especially SPHE.
This video gives examples of five books that I use with my 6th class. We usually do one of these books every half term, about six books per year. Do some research on the internet and you will find plenty of recommendations of picture books suitable for pupils of various age groups.
