DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Time is a specified regular time that is set aside during the school day for pupils (and teacher!) to stop what they are doing and focus on reading for pleasure. This poster display resource for the classroom is to focus pupils about what DEAR Time entails.
DEAR Time is a perfect way of differentiation in the classroom as each pupil can engage with it by reading a book at their own level – as long as each pupil is reading quietly for pleasure during this time, it is time well spent!
This aim to get pupils reading can also be used as Gaeilge. The Gaeilge equivalent is LUAL (Leag Uait Agus Léigh).
