Welcome to Seomra Ranga, the Hub for Primary School Resources. For the overseas visitors “Seomra Ranga” means “classroom” in the Irish language.
Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Since that time, the site has gradually built up a strong following amongst educators as a repository of quality teacher-created resources. The resources on the site, which support all areas of the curriculum, are arranged in accordance with the curricular provisions of the Irish primary school….

Science-Themed Dolch Word Mats
Dolch words are a list of 220 “service words” developed in the 1940s by William Dolch. They consist of a series of eleven sets of words which are considered to be vocabulary which occurs most frequently in children’s reading material. This resource contains each set of Dolch words on a single page with a Science theme, suitable to be used during Science Week.
Symmetrical Patterned Fish
This lesson is aimed at older pupils and can be integrated with work on symmetry in maths as it shows in a very visual way this mathematical concept. It could also be integrated into a “sea” theme in the classroom. This lesson is also good for giving pupils experience in mixing colours as it introduces pupils to the idea of hints, tints and hues when mixing paints.
CVC Word Matching 04
This resource is aimed at infant pupils or SEN pupils at the beginning of work on phonics. It is based on their knowledge of CVC words with medial O. The resource could be used as a teaching tool or alternatively, it could be used as a form of assessment. There are 12 CVC Word cards for pupils to match the word with the picture.
Matchstick Picture
This Visual Arts lesson gives an example of how matchsticks can be used for representational art. Pupils may not have had much experience of using matchsticks as a medium for art so this will be a new experience for many. The matchsticks are used to create a picture of a tree in this example, but the same idea could be used to create pictures of flowers, animals, birds, buildings etc.
