Since that time, the site has gradually built up a strong following amongst educators as a repository of quality teacher-created resources. Diary Writing
This PPTX resource is aimed at pupils in middle and senior classes who are engaged with recount writing, specifically with writing a diary entry. It gives tips on what should be included in the diary entry and how the overall entry should be structured.
Hinky Pinkies 01
Hinky Pinkies is an activity based on having fun with language, suitable for middle and senior standards. The PPTX resource contains 60 different word puzzles for pupils to have some fun with. All answers have two rhyming words. This should test pupils’ understanding of language and also their ability to put together rhyming words.
Fuchsia Art
This visual arts lesson focuses on looking at and observing growing fuchsia flowers and creating a picture from your observations. This lesson could be done with pupils in middle and senior classes and is suitable to be integrated into a flowers or gardening theme in the classroom. Alternative suggestions are also provided.
Maths Task Cards – Fractions Percentages Loop Game
This set of Loop Cards (sometimes called “Follow Me Cards) is based on pupils’ knowledge of equivalent fractions and percentages. They follow the format “I have …. / Who has ….” and they are aimed at helping pupils to consolidate equivalent fractions and percentages in a fun, game-based way. They are suitable for whole class or group work or for use in a numeracy table during Maths Station time.
English Task Cards – What’s Wrong 01
This set of English Task Cards is probably best suited towards younger pupils. The cards are intended to be used as a fun game/task to aid in the development of vocabulary and oral language. There are 31 cards in the pack, four per A4 page, all of which ask the question “What’s Wrong?”
Directed Drawing 02
Directed Drawing gives pupils step-by-step directions on how to create an image. They assist pupils in following directions, following a sequence as well as allowing them to be creative. It allows pupils to break down an image into more manageable chunks, thereby demystifying the creative process. There are four directed drawing samples in this resource.
Time Conjunctions Word Mat
This resource could be used as an aid to pupils in middle and senior classes. The word mat contains conjunctions associated with the passage of time. It would be especially useful for pupils when completing a piece of recount writing, where they are explaining a series of events, one after the other.
